A Greener Christmas – Shop Environmentally

Here are a few simple ways to help make Christmas more environmentally friendly and show “Goodwill to our Earth”

  1. Shop local – Shopping close to home reduces travel time and supports local businesses.
  2. Plan to drive less – Once you are at a shopping location, purchase your holiday items all at once to reduce the number of times you need to drive. Plan your trip to visit as many stores as possible in the same area.
  3. Shop from home – Consider purchasing gifts from the Internet rather than driving anywhere at all. The added bonus is less parking hassles!
  4. Reduce shipping – Purchase items that are made closer to where you live to reduce the amount of time an item is spent in transport.

A Greener Christmas – Decorate Environmentally

Here are a few simple ways to help make Christmas more environmentally friendly and show “Goodwill to our Earth”

  1. Energy Efficient Lights – Use LED or solar lights for Christmas instead of traditional lights and reduce your energy use by 90 percent!
  2. Time Lights – If you do use traditional lights, reduce the hours you have them turned on. When you go to bed, turn out the lights. Better yet, put them on a timer.
  3. Green decorations – Consider reducing the number of lights on your house by decorating with reusable bows and wreaths instead of lights.
