Two Perspectives on Canadian History

If you are like most Canadians, you only know one side of our country’s past. Here is a way to get a glimpse into our history that gives two perspectives. It is broken down into segments of time for comparison.

The first voice you hear is a woman reading directly from the government of Canada’s website. She is explaining our history to Canadians and the rest of the world.

The second voice is Dwight Ballantyne of Montreal Lake Cree Nation, explaining what was actually happening during that same time period. So much of this history has not been shared, and in many cases it has been purposefully hidden.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada. Watching this video is a small start in learning the truth about our past. We hope you take the time to watch it.
