Turning off lights as you leave a room and/or allowing the sun to light your home will definitely save energy. But what about those times that you need your lights on?
Regular light bulbs waste 90 per cent of their electricity on heat whereas the new fluorescent (spiral) bulbs are 75 per cent more efficient. They can easily replace your existing light bulbs as they fit in standard sockets. Be sure to check for the lowest energy consumption (watts) while purchasing the brightest light (lumens).
